Malaysian Association for the Blind The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) is the premier voluntary organization in Malaysia serving visually impaired persons. It provides services that help the blind and prevent the tragedy of avoidable blindness. Established in 1951 by the then Department of Social Welfare to look after the general well-being of blind persons in the country, MAB has since carried out this role and much more. Its activities have extended from Kuala Lumpur to other parts of the country. These include educational programmes, rehabilitation courses, vocational training and placement service. In addition, MAB also runs a Braille library, a "talking" book library (of cassettes), a Braille publishing unit, an Information Technology Centre, Resource Centre and a Sale and Production Unit to name a few. Its prevention of blindness programmes are realised through the eye hospital which MAB established in 1986. Penang Adventist Hospital The charity arm of the hospital has come a long way since its early beginnings, however its initial mission of serving the poor has not diminished till this day. Back in the days when the hospital was known to many as the "Seventh-Day Adventist Mission Clinic" proudly displayed on the signboard of the clinic were the words, "Poor Treated Free." That's precisely what was practiced - no fees were accepted from poor patients. To this very day, the hospital's mission remains the same and has continued to provide quality healthcare even to those unable to fully meet the cost of their medical bills. This is made possible due to the availability of the hospital’s various funds. Ronald McDonald Children's Charities Fund of Malaysia (RMCC) The Ronald McDonald Children's Charities™ Fund of Malaysia (RMCC) was established in Malaysia in February 1990. Our main goal has always been to lend a helping hand to less fortunate children in three main areas: health, education and social services. |
